For brains that freeze at the start

Starting is the hard part.

Toehold shrinks anything to a two-minute first step, shows you one thing at a time, and turns time into a band of colour you can feel draining.

Toehold's Now screen: one task, its two-minute first step, and a hold-to-start button

How it works

Three moves. No setup.

  1. 1

    Catch it

Dump the thing that’s circling in your head. One field, one tap. It waits in the catch tray, out of sight.

  2. 2

    Shrink it

Toehold turns it into a two-minute first step with nothing to decide. “Do my taxes” becomes “find the form and open it.”

  3. 3

    Hold to start

Keep your thumb on the button for a second and the band starts to drain. When the two minutes are up, keep going or call it. Both count.

Felt time

Time you can see go.

Clocks are numbers. Time-blindness doesn’t read numbers. Toehold shows a column of colour that drains as the session runs, and a quiet notification on your lock screen with the end time, so you know where you are without opening anything.

A focus session: the task title over a draining band of orange

Kind by design

No streaks. Ever.

The week view counts starts, even two-minute ones, and nothing else. Missed days aren’t shown. Come back after a quiet stretch and it says “Comeback.” Then you can share your week, if you want to.

The week view: dots for each day you started something, and a shareable card

Body doubling

Less alone at the start.

See how many people are in a session right now, or open a room with friends and focus side by side. Each person shows a first name and one line about what they’re on. That’s it.

A focus room with three friends and what each is working on
The catch tray: a quick-capture field and the things you’ve caught
After a session: You started, with a card to share
Onboarding: type the thing you’ve been putting off

Questions

Is Toehold only for people with an ADHD diagnosis?

No. It’s built around how ADHD brains start things, and anyone who freezes in front of a task tends to like it. You don’t need a diagnosis, and we never ask.

Is it a medical app?

No. Toehold is a focus tool. It doesn’t diagnose or treat anything, and it isn’t a replacement for care from a doctor.

What happens if I miss a day?

Nothing. There’s no streak to break and nothing goes red. The week view only counts starts. When you come back after a quiet stretch, it calls it a comeback.

What’s a toehold?

A first step small enough to do in two minutes with no decisions in it. “Open the doc and type the title” instead of “Write the report”. Toehold suggests one for anything you type, and you can edit it.

Who can see what I’m working on?

Nobody, unless you join a room with friends. Then they see your first name and one line about what you’re on. You can report or block anyone in a room.

How do I cancel Plus?

In Google Play: Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Toehold. Everything you made stays, and the free plan keeps working.
